The Region’s Need is Critical
In 2024, 23,126 people were living with HIV in Louisiana. 47% of these individuals progressed to an AIDS diagnosis.
New Orleans ranks 11th in the nation for total HIV diagnoses. The New Orleans region had the sixth-highest HIV diagnosis rate among U.S. metro areas.
Who is Affected
Black individuals represent 66% of new HIV diagnoses, but only 39% of the New Orleans population.
Hispanic individuals represent 18% of new HIV diagnoses, but just 13% of the New Orleans population.

Our residents and after-care program members reflect the challenges of our underserved communities in the Greater New Orleans area:
